#1   Solar Report + Next Steps Review- The generous person who made the $100,00 solar donation asked us to send a report including project overview, costs, timeline, kwh production, lessons learned and next steps. 

Action:

  • Write the report – draft on google doc (SM)
  • Help edit the report (Kevin + Lauren)- Share google drive with them (Steph)

#2  Compost Lunch and Learn with Black Earth Composting – Friday, Dec. 18 at Noon Zoom:  ID#: 7689666425 with the passcode: !Compost21

Learn how WHOI is composting with this new vendor, and how you can expand your composting efforts at home.

#3  Beehive Honey Auction – Ellen Bailey explained how the honey auction operates, and reports that they raised over $750 for the Falmouth Service Center!

Holiday Honey Auction

December 14-18, 2020

Holiday honey available through the WHOI Beekeeping Project! A volunteer group set up two beehives in the Spring of 2020. A modest amount of beautiful ‘First Year’ Honey was harvested in October, and we would like to distribute several jars to the WHOI community via an Online Auction. In the tradition and spirit of the Holidays, all proceeds will be donated to the Falmouth Service Center. The auction will be held Dec. 14-18, with delivery Dec. 19-23.

Action:

  • Send total $ raised to group after auction ends (EB)
  • Thank WHOI Communications for donating cloth lunch bags for auctioned honey packaging! (SM)
  • Recruit Bee Hive helpers in Spring (Bee Group) – Kevin Nikolaus volunteered and Lauren Dykman will recruit from the JP Grad Student group.
  • Create list of materials + associated costs needed for next Bee season (DK)

 

#4  WSS –

  • Hike to Dunes near Eastham on a weekend – date tbd

Action:  Kevin Nikolaus pick a date and reach out to Sarah, Lauren and Steph

  • Lunch n Learn – Beehive update for all of WHOI (Karen Soenen) date March- before hives open up
  • Lunch n Learn -Recreation Committee and YMCA update - Justin Ossolinski + Karen Soenen (or YMCA Rep) date tbd (maybe mid-February)

Action:  Introduce Karen S to Justin Ossolinski via email – they’ll select a date and create Zoom  (SM)

  • Ongoing: Beach Clean-up Shore Lab Crew – partnering with T3C + WHOI neighbors to create a monthly beach cleanup activity. Meet at Gate by Shore Lab. First Thursday at Noon each month

    • Litter Free Falmouth liaison needed – The Town wide Litter Free Falmouth Event in early December went really well. Lots of WHOI people participated!
      • The organizer, Alan Robinson, requested help from WHOI. He’d like a liaison to help organize and host community wide feedback Zoom meetings.

 Action:

  • Introduce Sarah Youngs (Whoi’s litter liaison) to Alan Robinson (Director of Litter Free Falmouth) – Steph via email.

#5  Whoi’s Your Buddy Program- work in progress – Workplace Climate Committee wants to move forward with the program, the Women’s Committee is interested as well. Please join the working group to get it off the ground. We plan to meet Wednesday, January 13 at 2:00 via Zoom.
