October 22, 2025
Attendance: Alex Kinsella, Liz Maloney, Sebastien Bigorre, Kai Srisirikul, Ann Stone, Ciara Pimm, Fadime Stemmer
#1 Beach cleanups (first Thursday of the month at noon)
• November 6th - Kai
• December 4th - Alex
#2 Lunch and Learn updates
• Zach from CES consultants: November 13th at 1 pm, Watson 201. Topics: Utility, grid, gas,
rates, world events, state mandates, energy transition.
• We successfully got an honorarium ($250) to Kumara for his LnL. It was a bit higher
because he provided food. Our general rate might be more like $200.
• Idea for spring LnL: Matt Pelikan from Biodiversity Works to talk about native bees
• Idea for winter: Visit to Falmouth transfer station. Coordinate with Mary Ryther
• Idea for field trip: wastewater experimental station on JBCC
• Idea for LnL: someone from JBCC land management team to talk about their work
• Idea for LnL: Allied Scholars for Animal Protection. Sustainable and vegan food option for
limiting animal cruelty.
• Idea for LnL: science communication person that Fadime met.
#3 Event planning
• Repair cafe: we’d like to reschedule and try again. We had 5-6 repairers and 12 repairees, but
2 repairers dropped out last minute, so we postponed. Fadime said that a better strategy is
probably to go in-person to ask people rather than send emails.
• Maybe reschedule for Dec 4th, 4-6 pm? See if this works with repairers.
• Invasive plants removal: thinking of another rose garden event soon, but Mental Health ERG is
not available. Partner with another ERG? It’s best after work, but time change will happen Nov 2.
So Alex will lead a removal at the Rose Garden next Wednesday at 4:30 pm.
#4 Garden/landscape updates
• Seb has pawpaw trees that he can contribute to planting. Plan for early spring 2026.
#5 New business
• New police station proposed just NE of Long Pond. Colin Reed and others have asked that they
look at other locations that aren’t as close to the drinking water reservoir. Liz will send out
info and then people may send a letter if they feel compelled.
Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 19th at 1 pm
