National Mental Awareness Month is a time to acknowledge that mental health is as important as physical health, and that we should focus on it without fear or shame. One in 5 U.S. adults experiences mental illness each year, and so it is crucial to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. The National Alliance on Mental Health has information for those living with mental illness and their families and loved ones.
