\n<\/strong>\u2022 Nov 7 – We will email STF list for volunteer. But often it works well to get a
\ngroup to show up. Students, postdocs, communications, an ERG?

\n<\/strong>\n#2 Lunch and Learns
\n<\/strong>\u2022 Dr. Kumara – January, after work around 5 pm, LnL + potluck event. Plant-based foods
\n\u2022 Stephanie Madsen and Mary Ryther – Alex will email to find their November availability
\n\u2022 Megan Amsler – heat pumps, home energy infrastructure, community solar
\n\u2022 If Stephanie and Mary can’t do November, see if Megan could do Nov\/early
\nDec. Otherwise, maybe March\/April next year?
\n\u2022 At our Lunch and Learns, we should promote STF activities to get the word out more
\n<\/strong>\n#3 Garden\/landscape updates
\n<\/strong>\u2022 LOSOS meadow
\n\u2022 Birch tree was saved from behind Clark and moved to the meadow by LOSOS
\n\u2022 Is Clark funding available? Follow up with Dave. This would be something to get
\npeople to spend more time at the office, so it’s in the interest of Facilities.
\n\u2022 Invasive removal: Going well! Removed bittersweet and porcelainberry from next to Clark
\nlot and on the hill between Clark and Fye.
\n\u2022 What might be able to go in place of the invasives on that hill and also behind Clark
\nwhere a bunch of porcelainberry was just mowed? Kai will check on how much it
\ncosts to replant with natives.
\n\u2022 Can we put in a tree next to Clark lot where there used to be an elm? Rick was supportive
\nlast year but we haven’t followed up on it yet.
\n\u2022 There’s another tree behind Clark that will need to be moved: Kousa dogwood, diseaseresistant.
\nSeb is looking into whether we can move it rather than cut it down.
\n<\/strong>\n#4 Funding opportunities
\n<\/strong>\u2022 Facilities funding opportunity – STF list is on Google Drive and facilities will look into
\nhow it lines up with their goals and will fit into funding.

\n\u2022 DEI funding opportunity – STF could become an employee resource group (ERG) and
\nreceive funding and structure from DEI. Requirements would be having flagship events
\neach year and meeting with Natalie.
\n\u2022 Natalie wanted us to change the “task force” part of the name. Dina points out
\nthat we already have logo, branding, etc., so that would be pretty inconvenient.
\nSeb points out that our work is “short-term” compared to climate change, so the
\ntask force name does make sense!
\n\u2022 We will move forward with both funding opportunities to see what next steps would be.
\n<\/strong>\n#5 New business
\n<\/strong>\u2022 Alex and Seb met with Stephanie Madsen and Mary Ryther from town. They have a lot
\nof cool things going on in the town that we can advertise to WHOI folks.
\n\u2022 Swap shop at the transfer station: labs\/individuals can bring old items that they
\ndon’t want.
\n\u2022 One-time styrofoam collection November 23rd
\n\u2022 Litter-free Falmouth event in November
\n\u2022 Idea: Once a year newsletter to the institution about STF activities and programs they
\ncan be involved in?
\n\u2022 Similar to Earth Day email?
\n\u2022 The group likes this idea!
