Team will work on a plan to get this information out to the WHOI community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Waste Green Team report<\/h3>\n<p>Reviewed current activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First Goal: review what is on facilities home page\n<ul>\n<li>update information, have links to STF page and make the information more \u00a0user friendly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Second Goal: Update guidelines and distribute to WHOI community\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure everyone has a recycle container<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tips: keep the recycle bin easy accessible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dave will email other tips<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suggest that purchasing to buy only recycle copy paper, not great for copiers\n<ul>\n<li>Marking boxes for not just trash<\/li>\n<li>Work on recycling of plastic and another materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Lea: Alternative chemical usage information from MIT\n<ul>\n<li>greener chemical alternatives.<\/li>\n<li>Ron &amp; Lea are planning on sending this information out in WHOI headlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ron: collection containers in Challenger for MIS to assist with UPS maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Group Discussions on ways to reduce paper use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce paper distribution by sending only paper copies for administration to \u00a0post<\/li>\n<li>See who is the point of contact in each dept.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This task could fall under Communication Green Team to target the reduction of \u00a0paper information that is distributed and promotional material within and outside WHOI<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ask someone from Mail services about mailings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Purchasing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>recommend green products be purchased and encouraged (compostable coffee cups, recycled paper, UPSs with replacement batteries)<\/li>\n<li>Educate and encourage replace parts of your equipment\/UPS not the whole unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jonathan: presented information on collecting data on computer energy use, cost, ideas for saving and how to collect data on computer energy use. Jonathan has written a program to assist with assessing the energy use of computer systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next meeting:<\/strong>\u00a0Oct. 22, 2009 11:10 a.m. Clark 201<\/p>\n<p><strong>Agenda:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Presenter from Sage Environmental Solutions, contact Mary Murphy<\/p>\n<p>Alternate agenda if there is time or the presenter is not available:<\/p>\n<p>During the 8\/27 meeting we asked that Green Teams have a list of (recommended) tasks for next meeting including the following:<\/p>\n<p>Green Teams meet<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review individual charges along with the following:<\/li>\n<li>Bring a Tip to the next meeting<\/li>\n<li>Bring an outline\/action plan for your team<\/li>\n<li>Review the checklist for your team area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>On 10\/22 we will review the following Green Teams:Transportation, Food and Water, Purchasing<\/li>\n<li>Communication Team will present announcement for STF for comment<\/li>\n<li>Update on Gov.
