Using kenny

The older scylla cluster has been expanded with additional nodes containing Intel E5-2680 v2 CPUs running at 2.80GHz to provide an additional 10.8 TFLOPS of processing power. The system image on scylla is near the end of its life, so the kenny expansion has a completely new software image. Because the system image on scylla is so old, code being migrated to kenny will almost certainly need to be recompiled. Many system libraries have gone through several significant revisions.

The existing scylla nodes will be gradually migrated to the kenny cluster and kenny eventually will have 2592 compute cores and provide 28.2 TFLOPS of processing power.

Your login credentials for scylla will allow you to log in to, and your home directory and scratch directory are the same.

Below are the steps you will need to follow to use resources on the kenny cluster (PDF):

  1. Create an ssh-key
  2. Request an account
  3. Log in to
  4. Manage your software environment
  5. Create SLURM job script(s)
  6. Submit job(s) using SLURM
  7. Manage job(s) using SLURM
  8. Manage your data
