The Spring 2014 edition of the US CLIVAR Variations Newsletter features 7 articles related to the theme of Greenland glacier-fjord interactions.
Following input from participants, the GRISO WG released a report of the International Workshop on Understanding the Response of Greenland’s Marine-Terminating Glaciers to Oceanic and Atmospheric Forcing – Challenges to improving observations, process understanding and modeling”. The workshop took place in Beverly, MA, in June 2013. The report was commissioned by US CLIVAR, NSF, and the US Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC).
The GRISO WG has published a review paper on the Challenges to Understanding the Dynamic Response of Greenland’s Marine Terminating Glaciers to Oceanic and Atmospheric Forcing in BAMS.
26 June 2012:
A separate (non-US CLIVAR) but related Ocean Leadership/IODP/NSF/PAGES-sponsored project on DEglaciated GREEnland (DEGREE) has released a workshop report on Assessing the History of the Greenland Ice Sheet through Ocean Drilling. The report can be downloaded here.
10 May 2012:
The US CLIVAR GRISO WG has released its White Paper entitled “Understanding the Dynamic Response of Greenland’s Marine Terminating Glaciers to Oceanic and Atmospheric Forcing” as US CLIVAR Report 2012-2. The document is an evolved version of an earlier draft (December 2011, see below), which had been widely distributed and significantly enhanced based on broad community feedback. The GRISO WG wishes to thank all those who took time to provide comments and suggestions.
5 December 2011:
Today, the GRISO WG released a draft white paper on “The need to address ice sheet-ocean interactions in Greenland”. We encourage and welcome input by the community until January 3nd, 2012. The whitepaper can be downloaded here: PDF.
