To the members of the Woods Hole and Greater Falmouth Community:

We will begin work to improve the pedestrian pathways and parking area behind the Shiverick House starting next week. This area will be fenced off for your safety and we expect the lot and pathways to remain closed through the end of November.  Construction during this phase will be limited due to weather, with major work re-starting in the spring.  We will reopen the lots and pathways as safety concerns allow.  Limited, alternate parking locations will be available to WHOI staff during construction. Challenger Drive, Blake and Maury Lane parking will remain open during this initial work.

The overall project will be split into two phases, both to be completed by Spring 2019. The first phase, noted above, will be focused on the hardscaping and landscaping behind the Shiverick House. Once winter clears, work will then be focused on completing the first phase and starting the second phase in the Challenge Drive area. Both phases will include improving safety on pathways (pedestrian, bike and car) while adding parking spaces to address parking needs in the Village of Woods Hole.

We will continue to provide regular updates to the community. The updates will be available on the WHOI Strategic Facilities website.

Sincerely,
