{"id":472,"date":"2017-09-15T11:06:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T15:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.whoi.edu\/big\/?p=472"},"modified":"2017-09-15T11:08:55","modified_gmt":"2017-09-15T15:08:55","slug":"social-media-workshop-tues-919","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.whoi.edu\/big\/social-media-workshop-tues-919\/","title":{"rendered":"Sept 19th &#8211; Social Media Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Broader Impacts Group (BIG) is organizing a <b>Social Media Workshop<\/b> led by JP student <b>Gabi Serrato Marks on Tuesday September 19th <\/b>from <b>4:15-5:15 pm <\/b>in the<b> Student Lounge.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This interactive workshop will focus on using Twitter and Instagram to communicate science and make your research more accessible to a public audience.\u00a0Gabi will give a short summary of why it is important\/worth your time to use social media, how it can help with your broader impacts, and mention some of the differences between platforms. Then, we will practice writing tweets about recent research papers and brainstorm possible Instagram posts about our research. It would be helpful to have a Twitter account prior to this workshop, even if you have never tweeted anything, and it would be good to bring a laptop or phone.
