Following her PhD in biochemistry, Joanna has worked in the non-profit sector to promote research on neglected tropical diseases and eventually got a Masters in Public Health. She now works on USAID-funded projects to help countries around the world conduct surveys to assess fertility rates, child mortality, HIV prevalence, and malaria prevalence.
