Four panelists included\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/esd.mit.edu\/people\/esdaffiliated\/ashford\/ashford.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Nicholas Ashford<\/a>, MIT Professor of Technology and Policy.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/eea\/grants-and-tech-assistance\/guidance-technical-assistance\/agencies-and-divisions\/dpu\/david-w-cash-commissioner.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. David Cash<\/a>, MA Commissioner of Public Utilities<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.org\/ourscience\/ourscientists\/lynne-zeitlin-hale.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">, Lynne Hale<\/a>,\u00a0director of\u00a0The Nature Conservancy&#8217;s\u00a0Global Marine Initiative, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whoi.edu\/profile.do?id=phoagland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Porter Hoagland<\/a>\u00a0at WHOI&#8217;s Marine Policy Center. These experts engaged in an in-depth discussion ranging from incentives for scientists to engage with policy makers, to scientific uncertainty, to strategies for engaging multiple stakeholders. Audience members contributed insightful questions to make a lively conversation. Following a lunch reception, panelists shared their career path experiences.<\/p>\n<div>This event was a collaboration with MIT&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/web.mit.edu\/spi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Science Policy Initiative<\/a>, a student group promoting the use of science to inform policy decisions and engagement of scientists in the policy arena.
